Dr. Qi Zhang

Qi Zhang

Dr. Zhang is a neuropathologist at LHSC University Hospital, Victoria Hospital, and SJHC, all of which are located in London, Ontario, Canada. He is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Western University as well as an associate scientist at the Lawson Health Research Institute. 

Dr. Zhang has a broad interest in basic neuroscience and neuropathological diseases. Presently, he is involved in three areas of research – epilepsy related neuropathological findings, brain metastasis from systemic malignancy, and neurodegenerative diseases. 

Dr. Joseph Megyesi

Dr. Megyesi is currently the chairman of the Scientific Program Committee at the Canadian Neurological Sciences Federation. He is a professor of neurosurgery in the Clinical Neurological Sciences Department at Western University, as well as sits on the Continuing Professional Development Committee at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Megyesi is past-chairman of the board of the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.

Dr. Megyesi’s clinical research interests focus on angiogenesis in brain tumours as well as cerebral vasospasm. His past studies have investigated angiogenic growth factors and the treatment of cerebral vasospasm using transluminal balloon angioplasty in an animal model.

Research Coordinator

Marcela currently plays the essential role of research coordinator at the Brain Tumour Tissue Bank, and has been overseeing its operations since 2002.

Marcela completed her education as a registered Medical Laboratory Technologist, and went on to work in a blood transfusion services laboratory. Following this, she engaged in blood transfusion research at LHSC in the AC Burton Laboratory, located in London, Ontario, Canada. In her free time, Marcela enjoys staying active through hiking, biking, and nature walks.
